Texas Donut

Texas Donut

Round Rock Donuts: We all have our guilty pleasures and for me there is none is bigger than donuts! I love donuts and many times that I have gone to the store looking for something to eat and just bought 3 donuts with some chocolate milk. Round Rock Donuts has such good donuts that they were listed as one of the 10 best donut shops in the country by MSN city guides. The donuts here are made with farm fresh eggs and yeast which makes them light and fluffy and people have come to love their donuts. They are so busy that even though the store closes at 3pm during the week, there is a drive thru that is open until 9pm.

Now while being a donut shop rated as one of the best in the country may qualify them for crazy eats for me, they still have to meet the criteria. Everyone has heard that everything is bigger in Texas and this donut truly is and so they have named it the Texas Donut. It is so big that they use a bucket to cut it and regular donut cutters for the hole, so could you call a regular donut a Texas Donut Hole? This is the perfect name for a donut that is 14 inches in diameter and that weighs over 2 LBS. That is a crazy donut and some crazy eats! I think I am going to go out and get a donut right now.

The 12 Egg Omelet!

The 12 Egg Omelet

The 12 Egg Omelet

Beth’s Café: Omelets served on pizza pans? That is some crazy eats! Beth’s Café has been serving up these crazy size omelets for years and this had turned it into one of the most popular breakfast spots in Seattle and I know that this is a place I want to try. Since this place is open 24hr you and your friends can coming to this place after a night on the town or even just to eat at the “normal” breakfast hours. This looks like your typical diner and for fun they even let you help with their interior decorations by giving you some paper and crayons to make a picture to post on the wall. Now while this place is famous for their breakfasts they do have burgers and even baked potatoes if you are after something else, but for me I love breakfast food.

Their crazy omelets come in two different sizes, 6 eggs or 12 egg or as I was would say huge or enormous. So you can get an omelet to share, like normal people, or if you are a really crazy eater, you can get it all for yourself. They have 4 standard omelets that they offer: The Southwestern Exposure with chili, salsa, sour cream, and cheddar cheese; The Full House with ham, mushrooms, and American cheese; The Veggie with tomatoes, black olives, mushrooms, and cheddar cheese; and then the Makin’ Bacon with bacon, tomato, sour cream and swiss chess. If none of this strikes your fancy then make your own omelet. Each omelet comes with a pile of hash browns, which are “all you can eat” but with that size omelet who is going to be worried about seconds of hash brown. Oh and you also get toast. All this deliciousness weighs in at over 5LB.

Stepping Stone Cafe

Stepping Stone Cafe

Stepping Stone Cafe: I personally love breakfast, a big hearty breakfast, so this place is my kind of place. Their breakfasts are huge and they have been serving them up like this since 1948. All of the things look so good that I wouldn’t know where to start. If you want pancakes, you can get their Mancakes and you are looking a stack of 3 13″ pancakes that are so big that they literally don’t fit on the plate, which is some Crazy Eats. The Mancakes come in buttermilk or whole wheat and you can even add blueberries if you want. If you finish the entire stack of 3 mancakes they will put your picture up on the wall of shame.

Other options are to get the biscuits and sausage gravy which again fill the entire plate and locals say that the gravy is the best in town or how about some delicious steak and eggs. Now I have never been a steak and eggs guy because I am very picky about steak, but this place may yet convert me. One of their most popular breakfasts is the Smothered B.A. Omlete that weighs in at 2 LB and is loaded with chicken fried steak, hash browns, onions, jalopenos, and cheddar cheese then covered with sausage gravy. Now that sounds like a breakfast that I could dig into.

Decadent Breakfast

August 12, 2009

Breakfast or Dessert?

Breakfast or Dessert?

Deluca’s Restaurant: I know that I have sweet tooth so a place like Deluca’s Restaurant is just my kind of place. They are home to some of the most extravagant and decadent breakfast dishes around. They have 8 different whipped cream covered breakfast dishes so that you can remember the days when pancakes and waffles could only come with whipped cream. The one that makes me hungry is their chocolate chip pancakes, topped with ice cream, whipped cream, chocolate syrup, nuts, and strawberries called the Chocolate Chip Hot-ade.

Their huge portions of traditional diner food have become famous and legendary in Pittsburgh. The delicious crepes are filled with creme, fruit and chocolate and there are huge, over-sized omelets made to order. So eat to your hearts content. For the really hungry you can get either the 2LB breakfast burrito or the 2 1/4LB mixed grill with veggies, potatoes, meat and eggs.

This place has some Crazy Eats because of the incredible breakfast/dessert dishes and also some big portions of good food. Just make sure you get there in plenty of time because there is always a line at breakfast time. So plan ahead and expect to wait because it always puts a damper on the day when you want to check out a great spot to eat and don’t plan for the long line.
